I am Shelby McNeal, the newest Patrol Officer for the City of Rifle Police Department. I am very thrilled to have this opportunity to start a lifetime career here. I participated in the Rifle PD Citizen’s Academy last year which allowed me to meet most of the officers. I enjoyed their team vibe and was excited to apply for the job and become part of the team.
A little bit about me. I was born in Glenwood and live in Silt. I graduated from Coal Ridge High School and then studied chemistry at the University of Northern Colorado. I just graduated from the Police Academy at Colorado Mountain College. I enjoy snowmobiling in the winter and boating in the summer.
I am very thankful to be in this position, and I look forward to getting to know the community more.

Shelby will be taking the oath of office at the next meeting of City Council on September 5th at 7:00. According to Police Chief Tommy Klein, she was a top student at the Academy, and her instructors and peers speak very highly of her. She is described as extremely bright, energetic and tenacious.
“We are really excited to have Shelby joining our team,” stated Klein. It’s a sentiment echoed by many current Rifle officers. She is sure to be a great asset to the City.
