OVERVIEW
The City of Rifle is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive classification and compensation study and analysis.
The City of Rifle is a home-rule charter municipality located along I-70, 28 miles west of Glenwood Springs. Rifle has a non-union employee base of approximately 98 full-time “regular”employees, an additional 20-25 year-round part-time employees as well as 85-90 seasonal employee hires.
GOALS:
Rifle’s goals in this process are to receive a rational and supportable evaluation of current market salaries for full-time, part-time and seasonal employees. A pay equity analysis should be considered part of this process, while factoring in regional economic and community similarities. To receive recommended changes to our present compensation structure and provide the organization with a transparent and sustainable model to attract and retain highly-qualified employees in our community. Additional compensation system outcomes include: providing a credible position classification structure, suggesting competitive incumbent and new hire pay rates and a strategy to optimize our investment in total compensation while managing rising employment costs.
Rifle would also like to receive recommendations for a sustainable philosophy for annual salary increases, be they COLA or performance based.
The last compensation study and update was completed in 2016.
