At the first meeting of the new Rifle City Council, the council members approved Ordinance NO.14, series of 2021, which is an ordinance amending Appendix A of the Rifle Municipal Code regarding refuse collection.
The City contracts with Mountain Waste and Recycling for waste collection. Due to a significant increase in fuel costs along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Mountain Waste requested an adjustment of their rates as part of their annual contract review.
Citizens will see their rates increase from $18.95 to $20.40 for a 64 gallon can which is the can utilized by most residential households. Additional container fees and fees for other services will also see similar increases. All changes will go into effect starting January 2022.
Citizens are also reminded that Mountain Waste and Recycling has a new mobile app that allows you to pay your bill online, sign up for reminders and receive information regarding service disruptions.
