The City of Rifle would like to inform all water customers that an error occurred in the October billing cycle. The issue was not caught until after the bills had been sent for printing and delivery. Due to a discrepancy in the closing of the September billing period, payments made after the 21st of October are showing up on the bill as credit not applied in the past due column (please see attached example). When the September period was closed, the incorrect date of October 21 was set as the date for the future (current) billing period instead of the 31st.
We are advising customers to wait until after November 1st to pay their bills. The issue has been corrected and new bills are being sent out. Late fees will not be applied this billing cycle due to this discrepancy.
